CHAINED TO THE NITE
EARACHE RECORDS – 2009
Cauldron is one of the new Canadian metal stakes that arose from the ashes of the dissolved Goat Horn, and begins to talk about after the release of their debut album Chained To The Nite, released by Earache Records as part of its line Traditional Metal bands who play 80's heavily influenced by NWOBHM. And while some crush or slip drumbeat own primal thrash broadly around here overflows with nostalgia for those now distant years: the melodies, sound, composition, even the vocal timbre of bassist / singer Jason Decay, often compared with Don Dokken (although for me it is both similar). The only point of the record could be lack of courage to Cauldron out of the molds that self-imposed band, but fortunately the freshness of the album completely redeems. Jason accompanying excel but not yet unobtrusive Ian Chains on guitar and Chris Rites on drums, provided no frills but its work correctly. Themes include: The Young And Hungry hook and infectious chorus, the Conjure up the Mass and the almost powermetal Dreams Die Young. The album closes with Aroud Chains Heaven, a cover of Black'n'Blue that seals the deal with the '80 and marks the commitment of the band to recreate the past and project into the future.

Cauldron es una de la nuevas apuestas del metal canadiense que surgió de la cenizas de los disueltos Goat Horn, y que empieza a dar que hablar tras la edición de su álbum debut Chained To The Nite, lanzado por Earache Records como parte de su línea de bandas que practican Metal tradicional 80’s fuertemente influenciadas por la NWOBHM. Y si bien se cuelan algún machaque o ritmo de batería propio del Thrash primigenio en líneas generales todo aquí reboza de nostalgia por aquellos ya lejanos años: las melodías, el sonido, la composición, incluso el timbre vocal del bajista/cantante Jason Decay, frecuentemente comparado con Don Dokken (aunque para mi no es tanto el parecido). El único punto objetable de la placa podría ser la falta de audacia de Cauldron para salir de los moldes que se auto-impone la banda, pero afortunadamente la frescura del álbum los redime por completo. Acompañan a Jason sin descollar pero también sin desentonar Ian Chains en guitarra y Chris Rites en batería, cumpliendo sin lujos pero acertadamente con su labor. Temas para destacar: el gancho de Young And Hungry y su estribillo contagioso, la marcha de Conjure the Mass y la casi powermetalera Dreams Die Young. El álbum cierra con Chains Aroud Heaven, un cover de Black’n’Blue que sella el pacto con la década del ’80 y marca el compromiso de la banda en recrear el pasado y proyectarlo hacia el futuro.
